ABOUT WORLD STEM FEST

Connecting curiosity, classrooms and communities.

World STEM Fest brings science, technology, engineering and mathematics into public life through hands-on activities, workshops and shared discoveries.

Our purpose

The initiative began in Türkiye with the ambition of growing into an international STEM festival. It promotes both integrated STEM learning and learning within individual disciplines, from preschool through university and across the wider community.

Its educational aims are to strengthen interest in STEM and related careers, build positive relationships with science and scientists, address anxiety and misconceptions about science, and help learners understand the connections between science, technology, society, the environment and individual lives.

Learning through participation

Activities encompass science, technology, engineering, mathematics, robotics, coding, programming, making and engaging science demonstrations. Workshops invite learners to investigate, design, test, improve and communicate their ideas. The community includes students, teachers, families, schools, universities and the public.

The founding project: a historical overview

The original World STEM Festival was developed by Istanbul Aydın University under the TÜBİTAK 4007 Science Festivals Support Programme (Project No. 399573). Its plan comprised two stages: a public festival at the university in the final week of September 2018, followed by a website enabling organisers to submit events for approval and a coordinated international programme in November 2018.

The original project description proposed workshops led by experienced educators from different regions of Türkiye, sky observations, robotics and programming, maker and engineering activities, science shows, educational technology experiences and talks about scientific and technological developments.

The evaluation plan included questionnaires and scales in the first stage, followed by analysis of participant reports and photographs in the second stage. Certificates were envisaged for participants in that historical project.

This section describes the founding project. Its dates, funding and certificate arrangements are historical and do not announce funding, a venue or automatic certification for 2027.
